meet rick carlino: feature artist for endota’s mother’s day gifting range

Each year we partner with artists to feature their artwork across the packaging of our seasonal gifting ranges at both Mother’s Day and Christmas. This year, our Mother’s Day gifting range proudly features the colourful artwork of Sydney-based resin artist, Rick Carlino.

Rick is passionate about experimentation, connection, and sharing the magic of colour with the world – and that’s exactly what this special collaboration celebrates.

The artwork featured across our Mother’s Day gifting range are from Rick’s show: Based on a True Story.

“Based on a True Story is how I turn memory into colour. I take the fragments that stick – what I’ve seen, heard, and felt (especially the ones tied to family) and translate them into layered epoxy resin works.”

“Each piece begins with a moment and ends as a colour story: bold, distilled, and emotional without the sentimentality. I’m not trying to recreate memories literally. I’m chasing the feeling and overall vibe. Shapes and layers behave like memory does: partial and textured, sometimes sharp, sometimes soft. Joyful one minute, dark the next.”

“The collection is inspired by Mediterranean and Australian summers: bright light, long shadows, salt air, and that familiar sense of being held by a place and a person. It’s personal, but it’s made to be shared because everyone carries a true story, and most of them start at home.”

Rick says that when seeking inspiration for his art, he is always tuning in to what’s going on around him. Which is the complete opposite when it comes to creating his resin pieces.

“You have to be present [when creating art], the rest of the world is gone, and you have to be there [in the moment].”

In relation to our Mother’s Day campaign: love that shapes a lifetime, Rick touched on what this sentiment means to him.

“[It’s about] the love that you gather and collect along the way”, highlighting that, “It’s not always about the external people, it’s [also] about the love that you feel for yourself.”

And as for his own experience of how his mother’s love has shaped him. “I learnt resilience from my mother. She raised four boys on her own.”
